Burn keeps playoff hopes alive

DALLAS (AP) -- Ariel Graziani scored twice to lead the Dallas Burn to a 3-0 victory Saturday night over the Kansas City Wizards.

Dallas (9-11-4) maintained its lead over the New England Revolution in the race for the final MLS playoff spot. Kansas City dropped to 11-11-3.

Paul Broome crossed a pass to a streaking Graziani, who knocked the ball inside the left post to open the scoring. Oscar Pareja also assisted on Graziani's eighth goal, which came in the seventh minute.

Lubos Kubik scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 37th minute. It was set up when the Wizards' Peter Vermes received a yellow card.

Kubik fired a shot over the wall of Wizards defenders and into the back of the net.

Graziani's second goal of the game came in the 58th minute when he split two defenders and fired a shot into the right corner of the goal, assisted by Pareja.

The shutout was the ninth for Burn goalie Matt Jordan, who leads the league.
