Wife of Blackhawks GM Mike Smith dies

CHICAGO -- Judy Smith, the wife of Chicago Blackhawks
general manager Mike Smith, died Sunday. She was 50.
Smith had cancer and Parkinson's disease.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, a
son, a grandson, three sisters and a brother.
Mike Smith took over as manager of hockey operations for the
Blackhawks last Dec. 12.
Before that, Smith was assistant general manager with Toronto
from 1997-99 and spent 15 years with the Winnipeg Jets in a variety
of positions -- including as GM.
A memorial service will be Nov. 20 at Martha's Vineyard.
