| EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy
Moss was fined $25,000 by the NFL on Thursday for his contact
Sunday with field judge Lloyd McPeters in the Vikings' 41-13 loss
to Tampa Bay.
Moss also will have to pay $15,000 as part of an agreement he
made after last season. He was fined $40,000 for squirting an
official with a water bottle toward the end of the Vikings' NFC
divisional playoff game against St. Louis last season, but that
penalty was reduced to $25,000 on the condition that Moss have no
further problems with officials. Moss agreed to pay the remaining
$15,000 if he had any other fines involving referees.
Moss also was fined $10,000 in Chicago last November for abusing
an official.
"Randy is disappointed the league levied such an excessive fine
considering his conduct in this instance," said Moss' agent,
Dante' DiTrapano. "Touching the field judge's elbow did not fall
into the same category as his prior violation, for which he has
accepted responsibility and paid large fines.
"To impose a $40,000 fine on these facts is unconscionable. We
certainly intend to appeal the decision."
Last Sunday, Moss said he was trying to get McPeters' attention
when he grabbed the official's arm. He was ejected with 1:54
