HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Plenette Pierson scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds as 11th-ranked Texas Tech overcame a poor shooting night to record a 63-56 victory over Rice.

Pierson was 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-9 from the line, helping Texas Tech hold on despite shooting only 40 percent (20-of-50).

Jia Perkins added 11 points for the Lady Raiders, who have won four straight since a 59-51 loss to North Carolina State on December 9.

Candi White contributed nine points for Texas Tech, all on 3-pointers.

Rice (8-3) held a 44-38 rebounding edge and outscored Texas Tech, 18-8, on second-chance points. But the Owls shot just 33 percent (21-of-64).

Kenya Tuttle scored 16 points and Aarika Florus 13 for Rice, which had a four-game winning streak snapped.
