LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Camille Cooper overcame her nerves in her homecoming Friday night. Cooper, who played high school ball in nearby Georgetown, Ky., scored 13 points to help No. 6 Purdue beat Kentucky 87-67. The 6-foot-4 senior center also had five rebounds and blocked three shots in her first collegiate game in her home state. "I was very nervous. My family and church were all here and it was really hard to remain focused," Cooper said. "I don't think I really ever settled down into my game for the whole 40 minutes." Katie Douglas also scored 13 points and Shereka Wright added 12 points and six rebounds for the Boilermakers (6-1), who used a 16-2 run to take an 18-7 lead. "Our intensity for the first five minutes set the tone for the game," Purdue coach Kristy Curry said. The Boilermakers shot 18-of-32 from the field in the first half and scored 17 points off 12 Kentucky turnovers. Purdue was 33-of-62 overall and finished with 27 points off 19 Kentucky turnovers. Stephanie Stoglin led Kentucky (2-3) with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and SeSe Helm added 11 points. Kentucky coach Bernadette Mattox tried to put a positive spin on the lopsided loss. "Our players are fighters and weren't going to back down from anybody," she said. "It was great as a coach to have our freshmen come back to the bench and say, `I see what you mean now about how to battle.' I think our players grew up some tonight." | ALSO SEE Womens College Basketball Scoreboard
