Running up some impressive numbers

ESPN.com

We'll be tracking the top six players on our weekly Heisman Poll each Saturday. Here is how those six players performed on Saturday. The ESPN.com Heisman Poll is voted on by Lee Corso, Todd Christensen, Bill Curry, Rod Gilmore, Mike Gottfried, Kirk Herbstreit, Mel Kiper, Jr., John Mackovic and Gene Wojciechowski.

MICHAEL VICK -- VIRGINIA TECH
Michael Vick
Vick
Breaking it down: Not a game that will impress voters. He turned the ball over five times and was about half his usual self on the ground. He can afford a game like this, however. But not too many more.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Temple, 35-13
Passing: 14 of 28, 162 yards; 1 TD; 2 INTs
Rushing: 18 carries, 55 yards; 1 TD
Season Statistics
Passing: 45 of 89, 635 yards; 5 TDs, 4 INTs
Rushing: 41 carries, 429 yards; 7 TDs

CHRIS WEINKE -- FLORIDA STATE
Chris Weinke
Weinke
Breaking it down: Too bad he can't kick. Did all he could for the Seminoles, however, leading 'em down the field first for what looked like a game-winning TD, and then into field-goal range in the final seconds. FSU's national title hopes took a hit, but not his Heisman hopes.
Saturday's Performance: Lost to Miami, 27-24
Passing: 29 of 58, 496 yards; 3 TDs, 2 INTs
Season Statistics
Passing: 98 of 154, 1,974 yards; 15 TDs, 5 INT

ERIC CROUCH -- NEBRASKA
Eric Crouch
Crouch
Breaking it down: Like the rest of the Huskers, he didn't do much for the first 30 minutes. But once again, by the end of the afternoon, he'd put together another impressive display of running and passing. Are you as excited as we are about that possible Crouch-Vick showdown on Jan. 3.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Iowa State, 49-27
Passing: 7 of 17, 164 yards; 0 TD, 1 INT
Rushing: 19 carries, 138 yards; 1 TD
Season Statistics
Passing: 39 of 78, 666 yards; 8 TD, 4 INTs
Rushing: 79 carries, 478 yards; 8 TDs

WOODROW DANTZLER -- CLEMSON
Woodrow Dantzler
Dantzler
Breaking it down: Wasn't a one-man show for a change, but still put up what's become his usual 300-plus yards of total offense. Oh, by the way, he's led unbeaten Clemson to its start since 1987.
Saturday's Performance: Beat North Carolina State, 34-27
Passing: 18 of 30, 220 yards; 1 TD, 2 INTs
Rushing: 25 carries, 103 yards; 2 TDs
Season Statistics
Passing: 81 of 128, 1,085 yards; 9 TDs, 3 INT
Rushing: 105 carries, 732 yards; 10 TDs

LADAINIAN TOMLINSON -- TCU
LaDainian Tomlinson
Tomlinson
Breaking it down: Now we're talking. After a couple weeks of running for 100 yards here, and another 100 or so there, the hardest working RB in the country makes a major statement. By the way, his total Saturday was only his third-highest. Remember, he piled up 300 yards against San Jose State last Oct. 9, and then six days later set an NCAA I-A record with 406 yards vs. UTEP.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Hawaii, 41-21
Rushing: 49 carries, 294 yards; 4 TDs
Season Statistics
Rushing: 168 carries, 974 yards; 12 TDs

DAMIEN ANDERSON -- NORTHWESTERN
Damien Anderson
Anderson
Breaking it down: A Heisman Trophy winner in the Northwestern backfield? We didn't want to believe it either, but this guy isn't your typical Wildcat. Can you believe his 292 yards weren't even the most by a running back on Oct. 7, 2000.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Indiana, 52-33
Rushing: 36 carries, 292 yards; 4 TDs
Season Statistics
Rushing: 141 carries, 1,050 yards; 13 TDs
