Suns vs. Spurs
Coach's Edge

Without Jason Kidd, the Suns give up the significant backcourt advantage they would have owned against the Spurs. But Penny Hardaway is still there, and he'll be called upon to pick up most of the slack. Hardaway has a size and quickness advantage against the Spurs' Mario Elie.

ANIMATE THIS PLAY DIAGRAM WITH SHOCKWAVE
(A) With Randy Livingston (2) running the show for Phoenix, the Suns lose some penetrability and scoring punch. The Suns begin the action with a pass to Shawn Marion (31) on the wing and split off the high post.
(B) Marion (31) looks to Penny (1) first, but if he's not there, he swings the ball around the perimeter. Penny cuts off a screen from Livingston (2) and gets the pass in the short corner. Penny can go strong to the goal or pop the short jumper.
