| Kenyon Martin was the first to shake David Stern's hand. |
Grand Kenyon
Sure, the Nets took Kenyon Martin at No. 1, and Stromile Swift went next. But the NBA draft didn't make much sense after that. The much-maligned Clippers might have taken the first step in reversing their losing ways with a wild draft night that started when they drafted prep star Darius Miles with the No. 3 pick.

Darius Miles no longer expects to be traded, and is actually excited about being a Clipper.
That might come as a surprise, but it makes sense after seeing what the Clippers did later in the draft. They picked Quentin Richardson at No. 18, who just happened to be Miles' workout partner leading up to the draft.
Also, Miles and Richardson are represented by the David Falk/Arn Tellem/Jeff Wechsler conglomerate. Wechsler told me that once Richardson fell to the Clippers, that sealed that Miles would stay in L.A.
The Clippers now have a lineup that includes Lamar Odom, Michael Olowokandi, Keyon Dooling, Miles, Richardson and Corey Maggette, all of whom are two years or less out of college.
